What You’ll Learn
This 12-hour course is designed for everyday individuals who want to feel confident supporting the people around them — family, friends, colleagues, or members of their community.
You will learn how to recognise and respond to:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Psychosis
- Substance use problems
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- Panic attacks
- Non-suicidal self-injury
- Traumatic events
Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, you will learn how to:
- Approach someone you’re concerned about.
- Start a supportive conversation.
- Offer initial help and information.
- Encourage them to seek professional support.
On completion, participants become Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders) — equipped with the skills and confidence to provide support when it matters most.
Duration & Format
- The 12-hour course is offered:
- Face-to-Face: 2x 6-hour sessions over 2 days
Courses for individuals are mainly scheduled on School Holidays, Saturday & Sundays, or sometimes offered after hours during the week.Â
Accreditation
Participants receive an official certificate of accreditation issued by Mental Health First Aid Australia, valid for 3 years.
